This is a space to point out where our documentation is lacking and where you can help out! Eventually we may get this into some fancy embedded JIRA task format, but for now it's just going to be links. Spec Explanations and Sample Requests could use some love, someone to figure out where to put what information. We started a wiki section at: http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/GOWS/TOC the goal being to explain the WFS, WMS and associated specs in simple terms. I think it still could be good to separate out such things, but it needs to be ported to codehaus, though it looks like our space on codehaus might have got killed, since it had nothing in it. Ideally the space would have explanations, none biased towards GeoServer, and then a bunch of sample requests (which could be the same ones geoserver includes by default in the demo section). But until then it might at least be good to divide up the sample requests stuff, allow users a space to post useful snippets. 3 Style Config is in need of a major overhaul. This will likely end up in conjunction with nice links in and out of the Spec Explanations and Sample Requests, since we rely so heavily on SLD files, and we want users to know about how to configure their options, examples of good sld files, ect. Validation is super powerful, but no one knows it, since it is so poorly documented. If someone could dig into how it works, and actually give some tutorials, it could be a big win for the community. VPF DataStore, WFS DataStore and MySQL DataStore all need documentation, someone needs to run through the process of installing them, and document for all of us. GeoServer and Eclipse with Tomcat and GeoServer and Eclipse with Jetty repeat a lot of the same information. There's also: Debugging with Eclipse and Tomcat, that just came from GEOS, it was last updated feb. 22, so can probably be killed, but if there's any good info there take it into account. The common elements should be comined, and then just differentiate on includes for Jetty or Tomcat. Also should take into account the geoserver set up tutorial, and make sure one is more tutorial like, the others more 'reference'.
GEOS:KML Support should be broken into real RnD stuff that should stay in the GEOS space, and configuration stuff that should go somewhere under WMS. And would be good to get a User Tutorial on the KML stuff as well. All open documentation tasks in JIRA:
